Torkil Jønch Clausen on ”Global Oceans 2008”, Hanoi
A man with water in the veins and an estimated DHI profile has got a new position of trust. Torkil Jønch Clausen has recently been part-time attached to the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) as Chairman of the Scientific Program Committee for World Water Week in Stockholm. This appointment is a great recognition of Torkil Jønch Clausen's long-standing work in the water sector.
World Water Week is one of the biggest water events. Each year in August the conference gathers participants from around the world - in 2011 around 2,500. The themes vary; this year it was ‘Water in an Urbanising World’. Next year it is ‘Water & Global Food Security’ taking place 26 - 31 August, 2012. Many DHI clients know Torkil Jønch Clausen very well because for many years he was member of DHI's head quarter management, most recently and until 2009 as Director of DHI Water Policy. Torkil is still associated with DHI, and serves as Water Policy Adviser to both DHI Group and the Water Policy Department.

As a big recognition for "his outstanding contributions to advancing Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the global scale" Torkil Jønch Clausen in 2006 received the King Hassan II Great World Water Prize. He donated this amount to establish the Women's Water Fund. This initiative ensures women from developing countries to advance their careers in development and management of water resources.
