DHI Water & Environment plays a central role in two new projects funded by the European Commission (JRC) and aiming at the development of guidance, which shall enable industry to comply with the requirements of the EU chemicals’ regulation, REACH. REACH is expected to enter into force during spring 2007.
DHI participates in the consortium selected for the REACH implementation project RIP 3.2-2 (Task IV), which also includes the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), the European Plastic Converters (EuPC), Ökopol, RIVM, TNO, BAuA, BfR and UBA. This project aims at the development of exposure scenarios and technical guidance document for the Chemical Safety Report, which is a major new requirement to industry and involves the entire chemical supply chain.
DHI also participates in the consortium selected for the REACH implementation project RIP 3.5-2, which also includes Ökopol and Risk & Policy Analysts (RPA). This project aims at the development of a technical guidance document, which particularly addresses the requirements and challenges for downstream users.
The two projects are expected to result in practical guidance and will provide DHI with an excellent background for helping industry with their new obligations under REACH.
