Seminar on Navigation Channels

Seminar on Navigation Channels, Esbjerg 17 September 2002

Seminar on
Navigation Channels - Planning, Establishment and Maintenance - Trends and Experiences

The Danish Society of Hydraulic Engineering has arranged seminars for the enhancement of scientific and practical development within the field of hydraulic engineering since its first general meeting in 1971. As an active member of the Board DHI Water & Environment occasionally assist in the organisation of these seminars. We are therefore pleased to announce the forthcoming seminar on navigation channels.

A number of key speakers from Denmark and abroad, representing users, owners, designers, contractors and operators, will take you through different aspects of navigation channel design and maintenance and will tell you what's important to them.

In most cases we can't see them, yet as underwater constructions they link coastal cities, countries and citizens, 'channeling' communication and the exchange of goods, thus enhancing mutual experiences and opportunities.

Musikhuset Esbjerg (Esbjerg Performing Arts Centre), designed by architects Jørn & Jan Utzon, will provide the setting for the seminar. This venue is located only few minutes walk from the station and the harbour.

There are many ways of getting to Esbjerg from Copenhagen within 3 hours with good highway and rail connections. If you prefer to work while travelling, the train service offers business facilities so you can put travel time to good use. However, the purpose of these seminars is to meet and exchange knowledge and experience and establish personal contacts - so, there are plenty of reasons to participate.

The site visit to the Port of Esbjerg will give you the opportunity to board some spectacular vessels.

For further information on the seminar please contact Jens Kirkegaard (ph. +45 45 16 92 22), Director - Marine Technology Division.
