DHI's Weather Radar Settles Dispute

  DHI's Weather Radar Settles Dispute

Measurements from DHI's LAWR (Local Area Weather Radar) has been used successfully as documentation in relation to liability assessment in a Danish county.

The LAWR radar provides records back in time of the aerial distribution of rainfall within its coverage area. Based on Radar observation it has been possible to verify that within a distance of only 1.5 km from a point measurement (a conventional rain-gauge) local variation in rain depth up to 60% can be observed. This knowledge has been used in liability assessment regarding sewer overflow. Point measurements has until now has been the only source to quantification of rain fall.
