DHI appointed National Reference Laboratory for environmental chemical analyses by the Danish EPA

DHI Water & Environment (formerly VKI Institute for the Water Environment) has been the Danish national reference laboratory for environmental chemical analyses since 1976. The contract has now been renewed for the period July 1 2000 to July 31 2003.

On behalf of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) DHI shall, as reference laboratory,  ensure the quality of the analyses, measurements etc. that are conducted by recognised Danish laboratories at the request of the authorities through:

  • advice about the conduction of analyses and measurements
  • development and testing of methods, quality control, and other relevant development work
  • course activities
  • dissemination of information and advice to the users of analytical results
  • national or international collaboration
  • assistance to the Danish EPA and other Danish authorities.

In addition to the 24 years of experience as national reference laboratory DHI has been involved in many integrated know-how and technology transfer projects to environmental institutions throughout the world - see map below. Click here for further information about DHI's laboratory services.

DHI has many years of international experience within the establishment of reference laboratories and upgrading of existing laboratories. Implementation of quality assurance systems and training of staff are important parts of these activities
